Group E-bike Rides

The following article about The Cedar River Trail, near us here in The Quad Cities, echoes what I have been promoting the last few weeks. I have seen the same things in small towns along trails in Southern Illinois and throughout Wisconsin.

I suspect there are many communities, like The Quad Cities, where all the major attractions are within two blocks of a Multi-Use Path (MUP). You may recall two posts along just 6 miles of my daily commute (we are blessed to be along 400 miles worth). It has been a revelation to me that most people I have met, or that have commented on them, are CYCLISTS that had no idea!.

This summer, my wife and I will be attending up to five outdoor concerts a WEEK within two blocks of our MUPs. We’ll also be able to attend two Farmer’s Markets . Then there are ballgames, fireworks, concerts and events in restaurants along the way. This is to say  nothing of all that is happening in Bettendorf from The River to The Betplex (perhaps the country’s largest youth sports and entertainment venue)!

I can’t believe that The Quad Cities and The Iowa City to Cedar Rapids corridor are unique. I mean half the folks that will see this have never heard of either. I should explain; this is posted to be read throughout The U.S. and even a few other countries. I would love to see Relive or other posts about such trips where you live.

In The Quad Cities, I would like to start monthly, if not weekly, rides to show other e-bikers what they’ve been missing. One of which would be that Cedar River Trail. Interest has been spotty. If you are local, let me know if you think you might enjoy a group ride to see fireworks over the river on a Friday or to one of our concerts.

Every day now, I am meeting people that just want a bike or e-bike to escape a hectic lifestyle. They might never do anything practical with their bike, but it is worth the expense to enjoy the freedom and a little exercise without all the noise and traffic. Are any of these things happening elsewhere (past experiemce has taught me that clubs keep this knowledge exclusive)? If so, please share photo’s and event links. It will help to encourage others.
