Winter Projects
While many of us ride our bikes year round, Winter still leaves us with lots of time to tackle dream jobs. I mean, be honest, you’ll ride when you need, but once temp’s drop below freezing, most aren’t going to spend a lot of time riding recreationally.
You know that old hardtail that’s been hanging in the garage for years? Is it time to build it in to the bike packing or gravel riding bike you’ve always wanted? How about that comfy, classic steel frame? It is the ideal time of year to track down those antique campy components it’s always deserved. Certainly, prices will never be lower.
Still others want an e-bike, but just aren’t ready to spend the kind of money Mark charges (Hey!!!). You can do it yourself. Like we always say, you cannot buy a factory e-bike better than converting the bike you already love. Add it up. 16#’s, plus your beloved old steed and its weight is way under any comparable factory e-bike under $4k (even that assumes a huge 20ah battery they don’t offer). Small wonder our conversions are getting so much better, real world range.
A 48 volt, 750 watt (max legal), 90nm, torque sensing mid-drive, like this, is only $395* from Ruby’s (just add battery). Yes, you could get one cheaper elsewhere, but we’ll throw in all the technical assistance you wish and any special pieces necessary to make it work on your bike (bottom bracket adapters, custom mounts, extention cables…). You can’t get that on eBay, Amazon or from Aliebaba! Plus, you’ll have a local person to handle any potential warrenty issues.
If you would like, we can provide a 48 volt, 20ah battery, with bag and rack, for an additional $395 (necessary cable extentions and connectors included). That’s nearly 1k wh’s (talk about range)!
If you don’t have the tools or can’t get your old pedals, crank arms or bottom bracket to budge, we charge between $15 & $45 to do it for you. The rest is quite literally plug-n-play. Match the colored wires and you are done! Can you think of anything more fun to take on as a Winter project?
Call Mark at Ruby’s for more information.
*Custom options and programming available at minimal additional charge (not recommended for most).
