Why Should I Force You To Obey The Law?
Psst, hey buddy, you wanna buy an illegal e-bike? I’m beginning to wonder why I should care. At least a couple times a week I get the opportunity. It isn’t illegal to sell, just to ride them! Who’s checking? Who cares?
We sell over powered cars. Dealers not only don’t require them to agree not to break the law, but feature illegal driving in their commercials! It’s been at least twenty years since we’ve enforced traffic laws. The result has been carnage we haven’t seen since The 50’s, at least towards pedestrians and cyclists. Just this week, our Chef Chris was the victim of a hit and run. Bet you didn’t hear a word about it on the news.
Fact: Minorities, feeling they weren’t being protected by the law allowed The Mafia, Irish and Jewish gangs to gain a foothold. This includes The Loonies here in The Quad Cities. Why do we think minority gangs can demand such loyalty today? If you don’t feel safe, you seek protection. How long will it be before parents take to the streets like vigilantes? Don’t laugh, that is how things got changed in Denmark. Seems a shame we have to go to such extremes.
Oh, I know, I don’t want more speedsters menacing our lanes, trails or MUP’s. Still, has my not making any money stopped them? The profit to be made is enormous! Sadly, as I’ve mentioned before, too many are Court Appointed Cyclists that obviously have already proven to be irresponsible. We get all up in arms over batteries (just demand Lifepo4 and all problems are solved), but we won’t band together to outlaw importation of illegal motors or throttles. Sorry, I don’t buy that anyone buys one then only uses it on private property (They aren’t necessary regardless!). I also have never seen a person not abuse priviledge, but hey why is it my responsibility?
Unlike anyone else within 60 miles, I have access to ALL the biggest, most powerful motors. I know how to unlock everything. I also don’t need an anemic hub motor to do it while climbing hills. Heck, I can make them keep up with traffic. No lisc necessary. Oh, they might mow you down in a crosswalk, on a sidewalk or on the bike path, but hey, we speed in cars all the time! Why Is this my responsibility?
