What Is A Cargo Bike!?!

One of the fastest growing segments in the cycling industry is cargo bikes. These are relatively new to us, but are fairly common in other parts of the world. With the advent of electric assist, more people want their bikes to be practical tools beyond just good exercise and and entertainment. Imagine a bike that can carry a whole van load of groceries, or all the camping gear for your whole family for a week (including a kid or two)!
Cargo bikes are relatively lightweight (at least in comparison to many fat bikes). They are long and comfortable, with large, cushy tires and wheels that can take a beating. Make it a high power, torque sensing, mid-drive e-bike* and suddenly it’s fun to haul the kids up the steepest streets in the city. It senses when you need a little extra help and kicks in even stronger. Heck, get a job delivering pizzas!

*Hub drives don’t have enough torque for cargo bikes on our hills and may have a tendancy to break spokes when fully loaded.
