What Do You Think?
This e-bike has lightweight double butted, round tubing for comfort and response. It has a steel fork to absorb vibrations and has an extremely low maintenance belt drive with internal gears (shift coasting, lightly pedaling or at a stop). No fake suspension,, no deraileurs to foul or fiddle with and no chains. It has no proprietary parts (replace or upgrade the battery on Amazon). Even as you see it, it is under 50#’s!
The torque sensing mid-drive motor is from the world’s largest e-bike component mfg. It can be operated via an app on your cell phone. This includes security.
These are not speed pedelecs. They are built for comfort and control. They are a very real car replacement bike and not a toy.
If you have read this far, you probably know that I only got in to building conversions because such quality bikes just didn’t exist. The few which come close are rediculously over priced. This has opened the door for a lot of department store quality bikes. I work on them daily. They are a maintenance nightmare.
The bike shown above and its diamond framed equivalent, list for over $3k, but we can sell them for significantly less. I can pick up the line with fewer bikes this time of year, if some of you would like to message me about an introductory price.
We are also looking at this true commuter’s folding bike. It has a maintenance free shaft drive that won’t leave a mess on your clothes every time you fold it. The single leg front and rear forks allow for repairing flats without removing the more reliable and lower maintenance mag wheels (spoked wheels often get damaged when folded and stored). This e-bike even has gyroscopic balance and an app similar to the first bike above. I am not fond of the proprietary electronics and battery, but unlike so many European companies, at least service is open and available.
This is not a long range bike, but very light and easy to store. This is important to my wife and I as she likes to meet me on the trail, but isn’t so good at fiddling with a bike rack on her tiny economy car (soon to be an even smaller micro-electric). Folders are great campground bikes, short range commuters or for bike-n-bus. Please, let me know what you think.
