I Need A Trike!

I’m getting old. The other day a friend dropped off a knarly old cane and I quickly realized this short, fat, old man is only a pointy hat and a beard away from being a gnome!

I have commuted by bike, year round for decades. Only ice ruts have stopped me. A trike eliminates that problem.

I don’t want and can’t afford to motor.without giving up a lifestyle I love. Taking the.bus, with a final quarter mile walk, works, but is not convenient. Often the bus is not running when I need to get places.

Studded tires help, but are heavy and don’t handle well on pavement (I’m not going to swap tires several times a week). Besides, they really don’t work well if you have to manuever while riding over ice ruts.

I realize a trike tends to be heavy too. Three wheels account for more surface friction as well. Still, not as much as a fat bike or studded tires on a mtb. Trikes stop and handle better too. Most importantly, nothing is near as stable and my commute is short.

Some might argue that trikes don’t handle well, but let’s face it, can you really see me going anywhere in a hurry? You might say they are hard to haul. They won’t even fit on bus racks. That’s all true, but with more and more local MUP’s, trails and lanes being connected, I don’t need to haul and Metrolink is still being Ludite as it relates to hauling e-bikes.

I need nothing special or new. A three speed or more is probably necessary. I still have hills to climb. Maybe you have one just taking up space in your garage. If so, please let me know. Maybe we can work out a deal.
