Coming Legislation

It was bound to happen. Home made batteries, applications for which batteries were not designed and folks using damaged batteries. All these have virtually nothing to do with e-bikes, but scooters and e-mopeds. Oh, speeding and modifying our bikes illegally has not helped matters any. You will be stuck with dramatically over priced and backwards technology on extremely limited E.U. standard bikes.

With this legislation, you will no longer be able to get U.S. bikes. The remaining E.U. standards, the only ones being tested, will sell for hyper inflated prices. Traditional cyclists; forget about uniquely American products like fat and advanced gravel bikes. They aren’t tested either. I suspect dual suspension mtb’s will be impacted as well. Forget about quality conversions.

The article makes it sound quite reasonable. It is not. The products causing the problems it is to address aren’t impacted at all, or very little. I am all for a stronger, well funded, CPSC. I’d like to see e-fat bikes banned for safety reasons. I’d even like to see imports properly taxed, but this just targets those who aren’t investing in testing that DOES NOT PROTECT US!
