Bike N Bus
Recently, I remarked that it amazes me that in a country where so many pride themselves on their athleticism we find it impossible to walk two blocks to a bus stop.
Metrolink has a free app that tells me when my bus will be at my stop. It shows me where it is at along the route, how long it will take me to walk to my stop and when I should reach my destination!
I can take my bike to my nearest stop, load it on the bus and ride down to the MUP. On my way to work, when the roads are just plain awful, I hop off in R.I. and ride across the always cleaned and clear Arsenal (thank you U.S. Army). It costs ten bucks for a twelve ride bus pass (less for old goats like me). Tansfers are always free.
Imagine the collisions avoided, congestion eliminated and street maintenance deferred if just those who routinely run 5k’s would walk two blocks to their nearest bus stop. What about when we haul our bikes to a ride or just to hang out on the local MUP’s? Do we really need to take the car?
